Annual Reviews: Toward Reviews That Benefit Everyone
The Annual Reviewis a valuable management tool for employees, their managers, and the human resources department.
It drives the organization’s strategy by breaking down objectives by department and by employee.
This is also an opportunity for the manager to clarify their expectations, help motivate the employee by highlighting their strengths, and involve them in identifying ways to address their weaknesses.
The Career Development Interview (now known as the Career Path Interview), which has been mandatory since 2016, allows employees to look ahead and consider the steps they can take to maintain their employability.
Although it complements the annual review, it nevertheless causes some confusion among employers and employees.
